ABOUT GOOGLE ANALYTICS
Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google. It is a product under the Google Marketing Platform.
The platform has three key features - the web interface where users can review their website’s analytics, the code snippets that are installed onto your site to provide those metrics, and finally Google Tag Manager, a tag management system that helps the user manage multiple tracking codes on their site(s).
ISSUES WITH GOOGLE ANALYTICS IN CHINA
While a number of Google resources are blocked in China, you’ll find that Google Analytics is able to fire and collect data in China. More on the various components of Google Analytics below.
Analytics.google.com is blocked in China. As such, if you are in China and trying to access this web analytics portal you may encounter some difficulty and have to explore alternative means.
GA Tracking codes (without double-click) are able to fire relatively well in China
GA Tracking codes (with double-click) work in China but are incredibly slow
Google Tag Manager is not blocked in China (to date), but are very slow
